Irene Miller, 50, was arrested at a Florida airport on Friday morning after deputies said she left her four children without overnight supervision during a work trip to Las Vegas. The arrest resulted in her booking into the Orange County Jail on four counts of child neglect without great bodily harm.

The investigation began on Oct. 21 when one of Miller's children called 911 to report that a dumbbell had fallen on the head of her 9-year-old brother. Deputies arrived at the Kissimmee home shortly after 8:30 p.m. and found children aged 9, 11, 12, and 14 alone. Fire rescue crews transported the injured boy to Celebration Hospital, where he was treated and discharged.

Miller had departed Florida on Oct. 18 and told deputies she planned to return on Oct. 23. She stated she had arranged for a babysitter from Tampa to assist the children with school mornings and check on them later, though the sitter was not required to stay overnight. The children's father agreed to take all four to his residence while detectives coordinated with the flight.

Body camera footage captured Miller exiting the plane and being escorted through the terminal before officers placed her in handcuffs. Sheriff Chris Blackmon said the Osceola County Sheriff's Office will not tolerate child neglect. He added that cases will be investigated and charges brought against parents not properly supervising their children.

The four counts of neglect correspond to the four children found in the home. Miller was held in the Orange County Jail following her booking on Friday.
