SportsLine Expert Picks LaMelo Ball and CJ McCollum for Wednesday NBA Slate
A 12-game schedule offers more options but also tougher decisions for daily fantasy players, with key absences reshaping team dynamics.

Mike McClure, a professional daily fantasy sports player and predictive data engineer at SportsLine, has identified LaMelo Ball as his top pick for Wednesday's NBA slate. McClure, who has accumulated more than $2 million in career winnings, relies on a prediction model that simulates every minute of every game 10,000 times to determine optimal lineups for DraftKings and FanDuel.
The decision comes as the NBA schedule expands significantly for the day. Wednesday features 12 games, a sharp increase from the four contests played on Tuesday. While this larger slate provides a deeper pool of players, it complicates the selection process for fantasy managers trying to balance salary caps and player performance.
McClure highlights Ball, a point guard for the Minnesota Timberwolves, as a key value play. Ball is priced at $7,700 on DraftKings and $7,900 on FanDuel. Since joining Minnesota, he has averaged 14.8 points, 6.3 assists, and 2.0 rebounds per game. His role is set to expand due to the absence of teammate Anthony Edwards, who is sidelined with a knee injury for approximately two months.
With Edwards out, Ball assumes the duties of both primary scorer and playmaker for the Timberwolves. McClure notes that Ball faces an ideal defensive matchup on Wednesday against the Golden State Warriors. The Warriors have allowed the second-most fantasy points to opposing point guards on both major DFS platforms this season.
McClure also recommends building lineups around Atlanta Hawks guard CJ McCollum. Priced at $5,300 on both DraftKings and FanDuel, McCollum is shooting 53% from the field and 44% from three-point range this season. He recently recorded 20 points in a game against the Miami Heat on Monday.
McCollum faces Miami again on Wednesday. In his last four games against the Heat, he has scored at least 20 points in each contest while averaging 3.8 rebounds and 3.8 assists. McClure points out that the Heat's defense has improved since those previous matchups, as they are currently allowing 121.8 points per game, the seventh-highest total in the league.
The slate includes several All-Stars expected to take the court, such as Giannis Antetokounmpo, LeBron James, Kevin Durant, and Nikola Jokic. Rookies Caleb Wilson and Yaxel Lendeborg are also part of the available player pool. However, notable absences include Kawhi Leonard, who is also resting a knee injury alongside Edwards.
These absences create opportunities for sleeper picks from the affected teams. Fantasy managers are advised to check for these emerging options to find value without exceeding salary limits. McClure's analysis includes specific stacks and rankings that are accessible through SportsLine.
The professional also targets a specific player who faces an optimal matchup capable of producing high scores. This selection is positioned as a potential differentiator in tournament play. The full list of picks and rankings is available to subscribers via the SportsLine platform.
The NBA season continues with the 12-game slate on Wednesday, offering fantasy players a wide array of statistical trends and matchups to analyze. The expansion of games from Tuesday's four to Wednesday's twelve changes the strategic approach for daily fantasy managers.
