Lincoln Riley stated on Tuesday that he remains committed to USC, directly addressing speculation that he might leave the program. The head coach made the comments before the Trojans host the No. 2 Ohio State Buckeyes this weekend.

USC currently holds a 6-2 record following a loss to Wisconsin. The team has not defeated a ranked opponent this season. Its two losses came against Oregon and unranked Wisconsin. A defeat to Ohio State would complicate the Trojans' path to the College Football Playoff.

Riley noted that he left a successful tenure at Oklahoma to take the USC job. He argued that this career move should carry weight in evaluating his long-term fit. "I came here because I believe in this place, and none of that has changed whatsoever," Riley said.

The coach acknowledged the pressure associated with coaching a major program. He recalled his first season at Oklahoma, when early losses drew intense criticism. "I learned a lesson pretty quick that the highs and lows of this thing, if you let those get to you, then you're not the right person for the job," Riley said.

Riley's record at USC has fluctuated since his arrival. He won 11 games in his first year but has not reached double-digit victories since. The program has not appeared in the College Football Playoff during his tenure. Three other Power Four coaching positions are currently vacant, which has increased speculation about his future.

Athletic Director Jennifer Cohen, who did not hire Riley, supported the coach's comments. Riley described their relationship as "fantastic" and credited her with strong backing of the football department. "She's been a huge part of all the progress we've made and has been incredibly supportive," he said.

The Trojans play Ohio State at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum on Saturday. A victory over the Buckeyes would improve USC's standing in the playoff rankings. Another loss would likely intensify questions about the coach's tenure at his next media availability.
