In Washington, campaign finance filings show Elon Musk has given about $446 million during the 2026 election cycle to organizations that back Republican candidates and causes. An analysis published by The Washington Post identified him as the largest individual donor in its review of the numbers.
The Tesla and SpaceX chief executive has steered most of the money toward three groups. About $216 million went to America PAC, the political organization he set up to support Republican candidates and causes. He gave $168 million to the Senate Leadership Fund, which backs Republican Senate candidates, and $30 million to the Congressional Leadership Fund, which works to elect Republicans to the House. Those three groups account for roughly $414 million of his reported giving. The rest went to other political organizations.
The money arrives as outside groups step up advertising, voter outreach and campaign operations in the days before the November 3 midterm elections, where both parties are competing for control of Congress. Political action committees and other outside organizations can finance advertising and other activities under campaign-finance rules.
Musk has become a prominent financial supporter of Republican political causes in recent years. His involvement draws attention alongside his business interests in electric vehicles, artificial intelligence, space technology and federal contracting.
