Phu Nguyen, 36, of Fairless Hills, pleaded guilty to armed bank robbery on Thursday, Oct. 29, in federal court in Camden. U.S. Attorney Robert Frazer announced the plea in a statement. Chief Judge Renée Marie Bumb presided over the hearing.
Nguyen walked into the Bank of Princeton in Voorhees on June 27, 2025. Court documents describe him wearing all black and a face mask. He approached a teller and handed her a written note. The note read, “This is a robbery. Give me all 100’s, $50,000, I have a gun.”
The teller gave Nguyen $1,760 in cash, authorities said. He then moved to another employee and instructed her to open a different cash drawer. Nguyen lifted his shirt to show a black handgun tucked into his waistband. He left the bank with the cash.
Police arrested Nguyen in Horsham, Pennsylvania, on July 3, 2025. He was 35 at the time of the robbery. The FBI’s Philadelphia Field Office, South Jersey Resident Agency, led the investigation. The Camden County Prosecutor’s Office assisted with the case. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Joseph McFarlane and Helen Park are handling the prosecution.
Nguyen’s sentencing is set for March 10, 2027. He faces a maximum sentence of 25 years in prison. He also faces a fine of $250,000 and five years of supervised release.
