The Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a recall of approximately 338,800 DREO electric space heaters on Thursday, October 29. The agency cited a risk of overheating that could lead to fire and burn hazards. DREO, a company based in Clifton, New Jersey, issued the recall for its DR-HSH015 model.
The Commission reported 17 incidents in which the heaters caught fire. Three of these incidents resulted in property damage, and one caused a burn injury to a person's hand. The recall covers units manufactured between April 2025 and January 2026. Another 36,300 units sold in Canada are also part of the action.
The affected heaters are black, ceramic, and measure 11.5 inches wide by 13 inches tall. Each unit comes with a remote control. The model number and manufacturing date are printed on a label located underneath the unit. Owners should check the label to confirm if their heater is included in the recall.
DREO sold the heaters at Costco stores nationwide and online through Best Buy, Costco, Home Depot, Kohl's, Lowe's, and QVC. The units were available for purchase from September 2025 through October 2026. Prices ranged from $70 to $110. The heaters were manufactured in Vietnam.
Customers are instructed to stop using the heaters immediately. Owners must unplug the unit, cut the electrical cord, and submit a photo of the destroyed unit to DREO to receive a free replacement. The company provided a recall website and a customer service number, 833-820-0887, for additional information.
