Residents can expect a stretch of dry, mild days across Bergen County, with daytime temperatures climbing into the low 60s today and rising further later in the week. Sunny skies are expected through the weekend, and light winds from the northeast will keep this afternoon's warm-up in check.
Fair weather is holding along the East Coast this week. Storm activity remains to the north and back to the west. Clouds will build late Wednesday into Thursday morning, though the chance of rain stays under 10 percent. After that brief window, skies clear again.
Temperatures rise starting Thursday. Highs reach the low to mid-70s on Thursday and Friday, and those readings continue into the weekend. Halloween conditions look dry for trick or treaters, with sunset set for just before 6 p.m. on Oct. 31. The Bergen County forecast carries no coastal alerts or tide advisories tied to this stretch of weather.
The forecast reflects a pattern of high pressure parked over the region, which keeps Atlantic storm systems from tracking into northern New Jersey. The National Weather Service's Newark office uses 1991 to 2020 climate normals for its temperature benchmarks, and its air quality and UV index readings update through the day.
The next scheduled forecast update comes Wednesday, when a new foliage report is also issued for the region. The rain window under discussion ends Thursday morning, and the 10 percent chance of precipitation closes with it.
Sunset on Oct. 31 falls just before 6 p.m., and skies remain clear across the county into the weekend.
