Anthony Javier Rubio, 19, was arrested on Monday for the fatal shooting of a Capitol Heights resident.

Prince George's County Police confirmed that Rubio, also of Capitol Heights, has been charged with second-degree murder and related offenses. He is currently held by the Department of Corrections without bond.

Domingo Saavedra-Escalona, 50, was found with a gunshot wound inside his residence early Saturday morning, October 31. Officers arrived at the Quire Avenue unit block at 4:35 a.m. after receiving a report of a shooting. First responders began lifesaving measures on the victim, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Homicide detectives identified Rubio as a suspect during their investigation. They located him at his home and took him into custody without incident. Police stated that investigators have found no evidence indicating the two men knew each other. Detectives are still working to determine a motive for the shooting.

The Prince George's County Police Department's Homicide Unit is asking for anyone with information about the incident to come forward. The investigation remains ongoing.
