A U.S. Patriot air and missile defense system is being moved from Texas to the Middle East. The transfer aims to strengthen American defenses ahead of a possible new round of combat operations against Iran. The Wall Street Journal reported the deployment on Tuesday, Oct. 27.

The system includes radar equipment, an engagement control station, missile launchers, and interceptor missiles. Officials said the move is part of broader preparations for a potential escalation. The U.S. military has also relocated troops from bases considered vulnerable to Iranian attacks.

Washington has warned several Gulf Arab countries to prepare for a short, intense military campaign. This campaign is expected to follow the November 3 midterm elections. U.S. forces are currently replenishing munitions stockpiles in the region.

Officials stated that bomber aircraft and fighter jets are being prepared for possible strikes. An additional aircraft carrier strike group and a Marine Expeditionary Unit are expected to join the region in November. Approximately 20 U.S. warships are already operating in the area, though some vessels may rotate out.

This buildup follows an earlier decision to deploy the USS Theodore Roosevelt and additional Marine personnel to the Middle East. A U.S. official confirmed on Oct. 1 that these assets were being sent to expand Washington’s military options. President Donald Trump is currently weighing further military action against Iran.

The President has not made a final decision on launching a new campaign but is reportedly leaning toward strikes targeting Iranian infrastructure and nuclear facilities. Iran has threatened to expand its retaliation if attacks resume, citing targets such as energy infrastructure, airports, and civilian facilities across the Persian Gulf. U.S. intelligence also warned that Iranian efforts to target Americans have intensified, with Secretary of State Marco Rubio receiving a memorandum on Friday. Tehran has instructed Hezbollah to increase its readiness for a possible renewed conflict, according to diplomatic sources who spoke on Oct. 15.
