Josh Raposo, 42, was killed on Oct. 22 when his vehicle struck the rear of a tractor-trailer on Interstate 93 in Windham, New Hampshire. New Hampshire State Police are investigating the circumstances of the crash.
A GoFundMe campaign established for his family has raised more than $9,100 as of Thursday, Oct. 29. The funds will cover funeral and memorial costs, legal fees, and the expense of cleaning and clearing out Raposo’s townhouse in Haverhill for sale. The money will also help provide care for his mother and son.
Raposo was born in Cambridge and attended Malden High School. He worked driving tow trucks and making deliveries. His son, Rui, was a central part of his life, and he maintained a close friendship with Rui’s mother, Shana Braga. His parents, son, siblings, niece, and nephew survive him.
His obituary describes a man who brought warmth and laughter to his family. He enjoyed rooting for the Boston Bruins and playing ice and street hockey. He was a fan of Batman, WWE, and Mötley Crüe. He also liked building with Legos and eating mint chocolate chip ice cream.
Carla Roscoe, Raposo’s sister, wrote in the fundraiser that his family is not alone in their grief. “Your compassion reminds them that even in their darkest moments, they are not alone,” she said. The family has thanked those who donated or shared the fundraiser online.
