The Milwaukee Brewers won their first World Series title on Wednesday night. They defeated the Tampa Bay Rays 4-1 in Game 5 at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida. The victory gave the Brewers the series lead and secured the championship.
This win ends a 57-year championship drought for the franchise. The team also finishes its first World Series appearance since 1982. In that year, the Brewers lost to the St. Louis Cardinals. The 2026 squad posted an MLB-best 103 regular-season wins.
Jacob Misiorowski pitched five and two-thirds scoreless innings for the winners. Rookie Cooper Pratt drove in two runs during the final frame. Catcher William Contreras received the World Series MVP award.
Manager Pat Murphy led the team through the postseason. The Brewers eliminated the San Diego Padres in the first round. They then defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers in the second round before facing Tampa Bay.
Contreras holds the MVP trophy in the clubhouse after the final out. The Rays had won the series lead earlier in the Fall Classic. The final score remains 4-1 in Milwaukee’s favor. The championship seals the season for the 2026 Brewers.
