The United States Embassy in Moscow issued a security alert on Saturday, Oct. 31, advising American citizens to avoid the Tsaritsyno Museum Reserve. The notice identified the specific location as Dolskaya Ulitsa 1 in the southern part of the Russian capital.

The alert warned of a potential event that day without reporting that an incident had already occurred. The embassy stated that the US government was coordinating with Russian authorities on a response. The notice did not identify who was behind the threat or describe how an event might unfold.

Americans in the area were instructed to stay alert and avoid crowds. The embassy urged individuals to remain aware of their surroundings and review personal security plans. Travelers were also advised to keep cellphones charged and carry proper identification.

The Tsaritsyno Museum Reserve is a sprawling palace museum and park associated with Catherine the Great. According to historical records, the site was founded in 1775 as a planned summer residence. Construction was never completed, and the estate spent much of its history as a park with partially abandoned buildings.

The palace underwent restoration in the 2000s. The complex now serves as a museum destination and a recreation area for Moscow residents and tourists. Its grounds include historic palace buildings, landscaped parkland, and ponds.

The embassy listed the State Department’s Consular Affairs assistance numbers as 888-407-4747 and 202-501-4444. Travelers were asked to monitor local media for updates and enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program to receive health and security notifications.
