Families in Kansas City should prepare for intermittent rain during Halloween festivities this Saturday, with forecasters assigning a 60% probability for scattered showers. While precipitation is expected to be light and sporadic rather than continuous, the weather pattern could require adjustments to outdoor trick-or-treating schedules. Local meteorologists have issued a First Warn for the holiday, signaling a higher likelihood of conditions that may disrupt evening plans.
The rainy window for Saturday is concentrated in the morning and evening hours. Forecasters predict a dry stretch during the afternoon, offering a potential window for outdoor activities. Temperatures will remain comfortable in the 60s throughout the day. Because the rain is described as hit or miss, most residents do not need to cancel plans entirely, but those attending events in the early evening should consider carrying ponchos or having backup indoor locations ready.
This weekend follows a wet start to the week. Thursday morning featured isolated showers with temperatures in the low 60s, followed by a mostly cloudy afternoon with a high near 72 degrees. A 30% chance for additional rain and thunder was noted for Thursday night. Friday continues the mixed pattern, with a 40% chance for scattered storms in the morning and another round of precipitation in the evening. Highs on Friday are expected to reach the low 70s after starting in the upper 50s.
The weekend concludes with milder conditions on Sunday. Residents can expect a 20% chance for morning rain and partly cloudy skies with highs around 70 degrees. Daylight hours are shortening, with sunrise occurring at 6:46 a.m. and sunset at 5:17 p.m. The time change takes effect at 2:00 a.m. on Sunday morning.
A more substantial weather system is expected to arrive by Monday. Forecasters have issued a First Warn for a 70% chance of rain and thunderstorms on that day. This system may produce strong storms that are currently under monitoring. The probability for precipitation decreases to 40% on Tuesday and 30% on Wednesday.
Temperatures will drop as the week progresses following the Monday storms. Highs are projected to start in the upper 60s on Monday and fall to the upper 50s by Wednesday. Breezy and cloudy conditions are expected to persist through the end of the week, marking a shift toward cooler autumn weather.
