Yemen’s Houthi movement launched a new wave of attacks on Saudi Arabia on Tuesday. The group fired ballistic missiles and drones at multiple locations within the kingdom.
Saudi Arabia’s military-led coalition confirmed it destroyed three ballistic missiles and four drones. These projectiles targeted areas in the eastern and southern parts of the country. Authorities issued emergency alerts to residents in those specific zones before declaring the immediate danger over.
The Houthis also claimed responsibility for a separate assault on the Ras Tanura oil refinery. This facility is a major component of the nation's petroleum infrastructure. Saudi officials have not yet independently verified that the refinery was hit, though the threat raises concerns for global energy markets.
Washington is monitoring the situation closely. The State Department issued security warnings to U.S. citizens in several Middle Eastern countries. U.S. officials stated that the Houthi operations could threaten Americans and broader U.S. interests in the region.
This escalation follows weeks of intensified military campaigns by the Iran-aligned group. The Trump administration and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth are watching for signs of wider instability. The conflict occurs as regional fighting involving Iran continues to unfold.
