Accurate Box Company in Paterson ships approximately 300 million boxes every year. The facility in the Bunker Hill industrial section of the city occupies a 400,000-square-foot warehouse and employs about 350 workers. It operates 24 hours a day, five days a week, using weekends for maintenance.

Gov. Mikie Sherrill and Rep. Nellie Pou toured the site on Thursday morning. Pou represents New Jersey’s 9th Congressional District. Company officials guided the pair across the work floor, where corrugated cardboard is processed into display boxes. The company serves hundreds of clients nationwide, including brands such as KitKat, Quaker Oats, and Fruit Loops, whose packaging was displayed in the waiting area.

The business began in Newark as a small folding carton company before moving to Paterson in the 1980s. It now describes itself as one of the largest independent manufacturers of litho-laminated packaging in the United States. The plant produces roughly 1.2 million boxes per day. An estimated 25 trucks leave the facility daily, distributing products to 46 states.

During the tour, Sherrill inquired about diesel fuel prices. Company officials stated that they are currently absorbing the added costs. They noted that once existing client contracts expire, they can adjust pricing to account for these expenses. Pou raised the issue of tariffs, and officials confirmed that the policy has an impact. They explained that many machine parts are purchased from overseas, making the supply chain sensitive to international trade rules.

The visit took place five days before the midterm elections. Polls suggest that rising costs driven by tariffs and the war in Iran favor Democratic candidates. Pou said during a conversation before the tour that she was looking forward to the end of the campaign. She expressed hope that Democrats could gain control of at least one house of Congress to effect change.

Pou said something drastic has to be done to turn the nation around. The tour highlighted the operational scale of the factory and the specific economic pressures facing local manufacturers. The company continues to ship millions of boxes daily to customers across the country. The visit underscored the intersection of local industry and national policy discussions in the final days of the election cycle.
