Ray Nagle, the owner of a popular Sayreville hot dog stand, was diagnosed with dementia in January. The condition has led to extended hospital stays and a current recovery period in a rehabilitation facility, according to his son Jeff Nagle. The family is now facing substantial costs for his ongoing medical treatment and long-term assisted care.

A GoFundMe campaign established by Jeff is currently collecting donations. The funds aim to cover Nagle's immediate medical expenses as well as the projected costs of his future care. Recent photographs shared with the fundraiser show Nagle significantly thinner than his usual appearance. These images contrast sharply with the familiar look he presented to customers for decades.

Nagle operated his stand in Sayreville for many years. He was known for remembering customer names and orders, sharing jokes, and engaging in long conversations. Jeff described the stand as a social hub rather than just a food vendor. Players from Sayreville War Memorial High School frequently visited to discuss football. Nagle often provided them with free food and supported the local Touchdown Club by volunteering on the sidelines.

He also maintained a large billboard that displayed the Bombers' football schedule and scores. This sign served as a central reference point for the community to track the team's performance. Jeff wrote that his father gave to the community for decades without asking for anything in return. The fundraiser invites supporters to share memories and messages, which Jeff plans to read to his father.

Residents can contact Jeff through Facebook to arrange a visit. Donations can be made directly through the online campaign platform. The family is relying on the community's support to manage the financial burden of Nagle's health care needs.
