Make the Road Action New Jersey and the New Jersey Working Families Party released a radio advertisement on October 28, 2026 targeting Rep. Tom Kean Jr. The ad is part of a six-figure campaign to unseat the Republican congressman in New Jersey's 7th Congressional District, a swing seat that could determine which party controls Congress.
The advertisement, titled 'Hot Stock Tip,' focuses on Kean's stock trading. The ad states Kean made over 200 trades worth over $3 million while serving in Congress, including a four-month absence from the district. The spot runs for voters in Union County and is distributed through digital streaming platforms including Spotify, Pandora, iHeartRadio, Amazon Music, and SiriusXM.
Antoinette Miles, State Director of the New Jersey Working Families Party, criticized Kean's record in Congress. 'Tom Kean has spent his time in Congress selling out working families to Donald Trump and his billionaire donors, all while getting rich from trading stocks,' Miles said. 'New Jersey deserves so much better.'
Nedia Morsy, Director of Make the Road Action New Jersey, pointed to Kean's legislative votes. 'While he used his position to get rich, he voted to cut our health care, backed Trump's war in Iran, and stayed silent while ICE terrorized our communities,' Morsy said.
Beyond the advertising buy, the two organizations are running a field program with texting and phone banking aimed at turning out voters before November 3rd. The independent expenditure is funded by the Working Families Party PAC and Make the Road Action Political Committee. The general election is scheduled for November 3, 2026.
