Jaden Thompson, a 19-year-old from Freehold, will spend the next decade in state prison for stabbing a woman in Jackson. Thompson was sentenced to 10 years on Friday following his guilty plea to attempted murder, child endangerment, and eluding police.
The incident occurred on November 27, 2025, at the Paragon Apartments on Larsen Road. Jackson police responded to the scene and found a woman with a stab wound to her abdomen. A 19-month-old infant was also present in the area but sustained no injuries. The victim was transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune for treatment and was released after recovering.
Investigators identified Thompson as the attacker and determined he fled the scene in a black Hyundai Sonata. The next day, Edison police located the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop. Thompson sped away, crashed the car, and tried to escape on foot before being arrested nearby.
Thompson received a 10-year sentence for attempted murder. He also received five-year sentences for child endangerment and eluding, which will run concurrently with the main sentence. Under New Jersey's No Early Release Act, he must serve at least 85% of his 10-year term before becoming eligible for parole.
The Ocean County Prosecutor's Office handled the case. The sentences reflect the charges of attempted murder, endangering the welfare of a child, and eluding police. Thompson's release date is calculated based on the 10-year term for the most serious offense.
