Apple introduced a touchscreen MacBook Pro on Wednesday.
The company unveiled the laptop on October 28 in Cupertino. This marks the first time Apple has added touchscreen capability to its MacBook line.
Previously, touch controls were limited to the iPhone and iPad. The new device includes a PROLED XDR display. This screen uses tandem OLED technology for better brightness and color accuracy. Users can scroll, zoom, and move windows by touching the glass. The laptop also features a Dynamic Island. This interactive area handles notifications and system functions, similar to the iPhone.
The new models run on M5 Pro and M5 Max processors. Apple states these chips handle video editing, graphics, and artificial intelligence tasks. The company claims the laptops offer up to 24 hours of battery life. Battery duration varies based on configuration and usage.
The 14-inch model starts at $2,899. The 16-inch model starts at $3,399. Education customers qualify for discounted pricing. Preorders opened on October 28. Deliveries and in-store availability begin on November 6.
Apple CEO John Ternus presented the device in Los Angeles on October 28. The launch event coincided with the opening of preorders for the new hardware.
